Hire A Writer: Finding the Right Freelance Writers for Your Content Writing Needs

Perhaps your company needs some consistent blog posts created to drive more organic traffic. Or maybe you have a book idea you want a writer to bring to life.

Regardless of what your writing needs might be, one question remains. Where can you find the correct writer for your needs? Should you post a job on social media? Should you hire more than one writer to guarantee quality content? Where can you find technical writing experts?

Don't worry. This article will delve deeper into freelance writing and how you can hire the best possible writer for your needs.

Let's jump right in!

What is a Freelance Writer?

What separates a freelance writer from an ordinary copywriter?

One of the great benefits of hiring a freelance writer is that you have much more flexibility over their employment. Whereby an ordinary copywriter will be part of your business and require health benefits, paid leave, and so on, a freelance writer does not require any of this support.

Instead, you can pick and choose when they work and only pay them for the work you require. This system is excellent for copywriting, as the role naturally tends to have periods of extreme business and quiet times where there is little to write.

A freelance writer gives you complete control over when you receive content, how much you spend, etc.

Where can you Hire Freelance Writers?

You can hire freelance writers from many different places, whether for content marketing, technical writing, or any other writing services. Here are some of the leading options available to you.

Fiverr

Fiverr is an excellent site for reaching many writers with a wide range of experience and technical skills.

At the time of writing this article, they have an impressive 3.42 million active clients, which would suggest that there are plenty of opportunities out there for you!

Initially, the site started by only offering work for five dollars, but you can now post higher-paying jobs on the website to attract more experienced writers.

Fiverr is preferred by beginner to intermediate writers as they look to develop their skills and grow their client portfolio.

Upwork

Another excellent option and one of my favourites as a writer is Upwork. Upwork posts over 3 million jobs a year, so you can be sure that writers are willing and ready to go on the website.

On Upwork, you can post your job, set your desired hourly pay rate, and put a list of criteria in place to attract the best writers.

I have worked with hundreds of clients on the site and currently have a 5/5 rating from each of them, as it was easy to apply for jobs where I knew I would be a good fit.

Be sure to reach out if you want to discuss how I can support your writing needs and ensure that you have the best experience with an expert in freelance writing!

Indeed

Indeed is another excellent choice for promoting your job if you are not too confident about using websites explicitly created for freelance work.

Indeed is a fantastic place for any content marketing writing jobs or eBook writing that many companies use. Because of this popularity with employers, many freelance workers also check Indeed frequently for job opportunities.

LinkedIn

Another excellent place to find writers for your blog online is LinkedIn. LinkedIn offers you easy access to writers' social media profiles, so you can check their previous work and activity and get a feel for whether this writer will be suitable for your blog content.

What to Look for in Your Chosen Writer

When choosing a freelance writer, it is essential not to select the first person who applies for your job. You should consider several factors that will help you create content that will perfectly suit your project or marketing strategy.

The Right Skillset

For starters, you need to hire a writer with the writer skillset for your particular content creation needs.

For example, it is not a good idea to choose a freelance writer that specialises in book writing when you need a writer to produce high-quality search-engine-optimised web content. Those are two completely different jobs.

For any SEO jobs, choose someone experienced with this type of content writing for your project.

For a book writing job, choose someone that has experience writing novels or non-fiction books in the past.

The Right Attitude

However, a writer's experience is not the only aspect that you need to consider. It would be best if you also looked for a content writer with the right attitude. Some writers can promise the moon and the stars, but if their attitude is wrong, you will end up with some poorly produced work.

Other writers who struggle to take feedback and make amends to their work should also not get considered.

Be sure to choose a writer that understands your needs and is willing to put all their effort into creating content that meets your vision. I, for example, always allow three free rounds of amends on anything I work on because I want to ensure that the customer has the perfect content for their needs.

Organisational Skills

There are plenty of fantastic writers for hire on various websites, but there is one thing that separates the best from the rest: organisation.

Many writers are creatively-minded, which means they have an excellent brain for writing content. However, it does mean that organisational skills tend to be lacking. I have had to work on my organisational skills, but it is now one of the main reasons I have so much success with my clients, as they know I am reliable and can be trusted to complete the job on time.

Positive Client Reviews

Of course, every freelance writer will tell you they are the best. Their job is to market their skills and tell you they are a quality writer.

However, to be sure that a writer is as great as they say they are, you should check out the writer's reviews from other clients. These reviews are from people in the same situation as you and will give you a great insight into whether the writer is as good as they say they are or whether they are too good to be true.

Frequently Asked Questions About Writers for Hire

How Much Do Freelance Writers Charge?

Due to several factors, how much freelance writers charge for their writing services will vary from writer to writer. Writers for hire that have many years of experience will be able to charge more for their services as they are sure to provide quality content.

Alternatively, a relatively new writer will charge much less as they look to improve their skills and build their client portfolio.

Writers with specific technical writing skills may also charge more, as they are experts in that field.

How can you tell if a Writer is Going to be Good?

Often, you can quickly tell from your first conversations with a potential writer whether they are going to be well suited for your job or not.

However, one way to be sure is to offer a paid trial article first. Any reputable writer will not be willing to write for free, but almost all will be willing to write a trial article to ensure that your vision and writing style match.
