Fiverr
Fiverr connects you straight to interested businesses in a range of fields, such as marketing, graphic design, and writing.
At the time of writing this article, they have an impressive 3.42 million active clients, which would suggest that there are plenty of opportunities out there for you!
While the site started out by only offering work for five pounds, you are now able to bid on jobs at a higher rate, making jobs more worth your while.
One thing you need to be aware of is that because of the opportunities they offer you and their excellent user interface, Fiverr does charge almost 20% per job, which is higher than a lot of sites. It also takes longer for you to receive your payment, anywhere from 7 to 14 days.
As you would expect from a guaranteed freelance work site, they are also up there as one of the most competitive marketplaces. This results in lower prices, which leads to it being tough to charge the rate you would like to.
That being said, as a beginner looking to expand their portfolio, it could be perfect, and once you have a few reviews on your site, you will be boosted more, and more clients will come to you at a better rate, and so on!
Upwork
Another huge freelancing platform for guaranteed freelance work, Upwork, boasts of having more than three million jobs posted per year, which makes it an excellent place to get started.
Similar to Fiverr, freelance writing is just one of many offerings on the site, with a range of short to long-term contracts, with either fixed or hourly rates.
One thing to be aware of on Upwork is that there is a cost to apply. Upwork uses a tool that is named “Connects.” These are credits that you use to bid on jobs. You get 80 free ones when you start, but then each credit will cost you $0.15.
That being said, Upwork is a top site for beginners due to the almost limitless opportunities you have to connect with clients that could be long-term and lucrative.
Thumbtack
Similar to all of the platforms on this list, Thumbtack provides you and businesses with a fast and simple way to connect.
However, unlike other platforms, Thumbtack focuses primarily on small businesses and local communities.
Another benefit is that it is completely free for you to join! They even provide protection and refunds if, for whatever reason, a job is not a great match.
Thumbtack also allows you to select the sort of jobs you would like to do, and clients will then come to you with jobs that meet those specifications. So if you are keen to write articles, but you don’t want to write books, this is a great tool for you!
Unfortunately, you do have to pay at least $1.50 per lead, depending on competition and a couple of other factors.
Freelancer.com
Yet another large guaranteed freelance work, Freelancer.com, may offer the solutions you are after.
On this site, you can look through their wide range of jobs and place bids on jobs that interest you. Once you have been hired, it is easy to chat with clients and keep track of your progress.
One great benefit for beginners with a limited portfolio is the chance to compete for work in contests, and the reviews gained will help your profile stand out.
There is a lot of spam or fake jobs on this site as well, though, so make sure you do all work through the website to ensure that you get paid as promised!
Flexjobs
One of my personal favourites for guaranteed freelance work, Flexjobs, is excellent for freelance work in person or remotely. They have thousands of jobs available across over 50 categories.
When looking for the top freelance sites, there are a few ways that this site stands out.
Firstly, they place a lot of focus on job legitimacy, to the point where they hand-screen each and every job to make sure the platform remains trustworthy and secure.
They also offer you a highly advanced search tool, which will save you so much time.
Rather than spending time scrolling through jobs that are irrelevant to you, you have the power to narrow your search and find jobs that suit your skillset.
To search for and bid on jobs, you need to sign up for their subscription plans. Jobs do pay well on this site, though, and you will have less competition, so it may be worth your money!
