The Best 4 Side Hustles in 2022: Make a Little Extra on the Side

Let’s be honest.

Who doesn’t want to make a little bit more money every month?

You might be saving up to pay a deposit for your dream home, planning for a wedding, or even just looking for a little bit more spending money on the weekends; there is always a reason to want to make more money.

You may already be paying off your bills and making ends meet with your day job. But you could be making more, and you could be doing it from home with your very own side hustle!

So, here are four of the best side hustles you can try in 2022 to make more money.

What Is a Side Hustle?

For those of you that aren’t aware (if so, where have you been?!), a side hustle is a money-making opportunity that you can try outside your normal working hours. The best side hustles are extremely popular as they allow you to chase your dreams and pay for things you have always wanted.

Once you have factored in how much rent, bills, food, and other necessities cost, your monthly paycheque can look pretty small.

That’s where the best side hustles come in, letting you earn a few more dollars a month, sometimes even thousands if you are successful!

Personally, I started as a freelance writer as a side hustle before realising this is what I wanted to do with my life full time, but that is a story for another day!

Let’s check out the best side hustles in 2022.

Start Freelancing

Let’s start with my absolute personal favourite, freelancing!

For me, it was freelance writing that I turned my attention to, but realistically, clients are looking for freelancers in almost any field of work.

How to Get Started as a Freelance Writer: 5 Steps

Freelancing is one of the best side hustles because it gives you freedom and flexibility to work as and when you want (within reason!), so you can make some more money on the side when you have a little more downtime or dial it down when you are busier.

For me, freelance writing allowed me to pursue my passion for writing and ultimately led to me taking it forward as a much more permanent role. But even if you only ever want to do it part-time, freelancing is one of the best side hustles.

Set Up a Wholesale Business

If you like the sound of being your own boss and having your own online business, then setting up an online store via wholesale may be ideal for you. This format of running a business is when you buy products in bulk as they then cost less per item and then sell them at a higher price to customers, pocketing the difference.

Due to you having hands on your products and dealing directly with supplies, you will need to ensure you have time to keep a keen eye on your products and ensure they are of high quality.

It is also worth noting that setting up a wholesale business requires you to spend a fair amount of money upfront. If you get the right products and have consistent buyers, your profits can be huge, making it one of the best side hustles.

Try Affiliate Marketing

If you are in it for the long run, and you are willing to undertake a major learning curve on your way to making a profit, then affiliate marketing could be one for you!

When it comes to affiliate marketing, it isn’t just about selecting the right product to try and sell, but you also need to seek out a brand to work with that is right for you.

Kickstart a Print on Demand Store

If you are a design fanatic and like making artwork and graphics in your spare time, have you ever considered setting up a print-on-demand store? This could be one of the best side hustles for you.

The best part? You can create anything you want under your own brand! A print-on-demand business lets you put your custom artwork on sale, offering it on items such as bags, mugs, phone cases, or t-shirts.

Don’t worry about bulky stock either. You can completely automate it by working with a dropshipping business that will sort the supply of your products for each purchase.

All you need to do is design the products, promote them, and watch as the orders (and the profits!) come rolling.

These are the best side hustles in my opinion, but don’t let that stop you from going out and trying something different!
